RECYCLING/RECLAMATION

Let’s face it!  We’re all becoming more environmentally conscious.  It’s a necessity in this day and age.  Whether the reasons are environmental, budgetary, or both businesses are finding new ways to recycle and reclaim materials from our waste stream.

GICMH has been involved in a statewide computer recycling program—between the Goodwill Association of Michigan and the Dell computer company.  At first, Goodwill locations all over the state simply accepted donated units and passed them along to a Dell recycling partner.

More recently, local Goodwills like GICMH have started “demanufacturing” computers.  We’re providing training and employment to local persons by disassembling the computers in our plants and selling the parts separately. 

Employees, trainees, and high school students learn about the world of work through this activity. 

Allow Goodwill’s staff to work with you and determine the best way to handle your recycling and reclamation chores.  It may be something we do in one of our plants (Battle Creek or Jackson) or it might be something we do for you—at your site.
